Small book, big job
I was handed all ten thousand images that had been uploaded thus far to the @natgeo account when we began this book. At the time of publication, nearly 100 photographers had uploading privileges to NatGeo’s instagram—and they ran the gamut from experts in shooting landscapes, portraits, wildlife, street scenes, studio setups, and current events, all with varying journalistic and artistic viewpoints. The difficulty in arranging a disparate collection like this was dispelled by highlighting the commonalities in the images, and making them speak to one another through interesting juxtapositions.
