Reflecting absence
This was a tough project, and I took inspiration from the designer of the 9/11 Memorial, Michael Arad, whose memorial design (titled Reflecting Absence) occupies the original footprints of the Twin Towers. I wanted our book to showcase the creation of the memorial, and the memorial itself, but also to look back on the incredible design of the original World Trade center by Minoru Yamasaki. I ended up blending the trident design that covered the exterior of the original towers with the shape of the pools from the memorial.
